About Me

I love making games and seeing my skills improve with each new project. After making several solo and collaborative projects, I learned the most important thing when making games isn't the final product but the skills and experiences made along the way. I am excited to get experience in a professional setting and take my skills to the next level.

My favorite game is Minecraft. I like to snowboard and penny board. I like to drink orange juice. I am very proud of myself for what I have learned so far. I hope you enjoy looking though my projects and artwork.

Fishing Game

Unreal Engine 3D Mobile Game

This was my summer 2022 project. I was able to make the first level, which was my plan, but I am going to make more levels in the future. I made every aspect of the game except for the audio. My brother (Alexander Moen) made the music. I coded the game using blueprints. I made all the models, animations and most of the textures in Blender. Some textures were made using Substance Painter. I also made all the UI 2d assets using Photoshop. I worked on this project all day every day for the entire summer. I did get burned out at the end. But, I proved to myself that I am able to stay self motivated, organized and keep myself accountable.

Egg Juice

2D Tower Defense Game

I made this game in my GDD 200 class at UW Stout. It was a collaborative project. While making it I learned how to share code through GitHub and communicate with my fellow coder and artists to make one cohesive game.

Battle Boats

Data Structures Project

Battle Boats was done in C++ with a partner (Thomas Anderson). The goal was to code the game battleship. It was very challenging and taught me a lot about teamwork and coding collaboratively. To the right are the two most challenging functions of the project.

Phrogger

Physics Based 3D Game

I made this game as the final coding project for my physics class. It is based on the popular arcade game "Frogger" but is physics based and uses high speed cars. While making this game I gained major understanding in collisions and torque as well as VPython. I learned how to better talk about my games when I presented it to the class at the end.

City Simulator

Unreal Engine 3D Game made with blueprints

After working on this game for about a year and making a lot of models and animations I realized I way underestimated the scope of this game. The takeaways however were learning Unreal Engine, some AI, blueprints and I learned a valuable lesson in setting scopes for games.

Gun Game

FPS Game Made In Unity

While making this game I learned modeling and animation in Blender, as well as Unity and C#. At the end I attempted adding multiplayer. I decided to follow a tutorial for using Photon and when I ran into a problem I insisted on trying to contact the person who made the tutorial to ask a question instead of adapting and switching to Unity's built in multiplayer.

AR_PotatoCannon

Augmented Reality Aim and Shoot game

I made this game in XCode using Swift. This was one of my first 3D games and therefore led to all the other games I made. This game was also an introduction to making a interactable user interface.

AR_Paintball

Augmented Reality Paintball game

I also made this game using XCode and Swift. This game was a introduction to augmented reality and XCode's built in physics. I also made models for this game giving me an introduction to 3D modeling and Blender.

InsideJokes_Soundboard

Sounboard Creation and Sharing App

This was one of the first apps I ever made, so coming from very little coding experience I had to work extremely hard to get this game done. My biggest takeaways from this game were how to look things up, specifically for coding questions, and how to stick with a project until the end. I also learned how to store user data such as usernames, passwords, and images and videos. Along with writing the code, I made all the assets. While having used Photoshop before, I got significantly better during this project.

The applications I used for this project were XCode, Photoshop and Firebase (for storing data). The language I used was Swift.
